In Luke 21:34-36 YAHshua says, “Be on guard, so that your hearts will not be weighted down with dissipation and drunkenness and the worries of life, and that day will not come on you suddenly like a trap; for it will come upon all those who dwell on the face of all the earth. But keep on the alert at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that are about to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man.”

As previously mentioned, dissipation means: frivolous expenditures of your time and energies. Meaning you are unwise, being preoccupied with temporal issues and the cares and concerns of life, rather than being led by the Holy Spirit into eternal investments of time and energy. If you are “weighted down by dissipation,” that day will come unexpectedly and the door will be shut in your face, the Bridegroom will say, “I do not know you.”

Paul says to “redeem the time, for the days are evil” (Ephesians 5:16 KJV). So, be careful to guard against dissipation, against the things that will seduce and entice you. It is time to be prepared, to put that oil in the lamp of our hearts, to take the word in, to get His Spirit in us, to be prepared by repenting from our disobedience and to become wise. We must number our days because we see the time is short, the days are evil, and judgment is coming.

Peter urges us to watch and pray, for “The end of all things is near. Therefore, be alert and of sober mind so that you may pray” (1 Peter 4:7 NIV). YAHshua has spoken before, “Be always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape all that is about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man" (Luke 21:36) “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us” (Hebrews 12:1).

To control yourself is a fruit of the spirit; it is the crucifixion of the flesh. YAHshua (Jesus) endured crucifixion and we are to endure it by joyfully picking up our cross and dying daily to our flesh by taking the power of the flesh and giving it to the power of the Spirit— so that by grace we can control our inclinations rather than our fleshy inclinations controlling us. YAHshua (Jesus) will free us from that which harms us.The Apostle Paul said,“Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth” (Colossians 3:2). May YAHshua lift us high above this earthly realm and keep us focused on things above. For “He will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are stayed on Him” (see Isaiah 26:3). If we look down upon this earth and all that is going on; all of the cares and concerns that preoccupy our attention, we will be distracted and have broken fellowship with YAHveh (the LORD). He is the One who is strong and mighty to help us battle and have victory and be more than a conqueror over our flesh, the world and the enemy—the prince of this world.
