Listen & Give Honor to My Name

Malachi 2:1-2

Malachi’s admonition to a half-hearted compromised priesthood is also an admonition to YAHveh’s redeemed remnant today. “… I am a great King,” says YAHveh of hosts, “and My name is feared among the nations.” And now, this commandment is for you, O priests. “If you do not listen, and if you do not take it to heart to give honor to My name,” says YAHveh of hosts, “then I will send the curse upon you, and I will curse your blessings;… and indeed, I have cursed them already, because you are not taking it to heart.” (Malachi 1:14-2:2)

The history of Israel is riddled with the consequences of her rebellion and the curses and judgments that have come upon her as examples to us upon whom the end of the age has come. We must not take lightly such a great salvation of the blood of the Lamb that has purchased us to be a kingdom of priests to serve our Lamb and our King (see Revelation 1:5-6).

It is not difficult to see the consequences of this curse on today’s religious systems. The priesthood was to be YAHveh’s mouthpieces speaking the truth from hearts that were living set apart holy lives in service to their righteous King.

YAHveh the Holy One admonished the priests through His messenger Malachi regarding their commission and specific calls as servants of the Most High. YAHveh said, “My covenant with him[the priesthood] was one of life and peace, and I gave them to him [through the sacrifice of blood] as an object of reverence; so he revered Me, and stood in awe of My name.” (Malachi 2:5)

The New Covenant redeemed priesthood will have the very mind of Messiah. YAHshua’s thoughts will cover their minds as a turban covered the head of every Hebrew priest. They will also wear symbolically, a sacred golden diadem over their foreheads, sealing them with the inscription, Holy to YAHveh. We read in Exodus the description of the priestly garments, “And they made the plate of the holy crown [the sacred diadem] of pure gold, and inscribed it like the engravings of a signet, “Holy to YAHveh.” And they fastened a blue cord to it, to fasten it on the turban … (Exodus 39:30-31)

In the book of Revelation regarding the New Heaven and the New Earth, … the throne of YAHveh and of the Lamb … shall be in it, and His bond-servants [the holy priesthood] shall serve Him; and they shall see His face, and His name shall be on their foreheads [like the diadem reading Holy to YAHveh]. (Revelation 22:3-4)

From the book of Exodus to the end of the book of Revelation the priesthood is magnified as the blood redeemed servants whose inheritance is not in this world and lovingly and obediently serve their God and Deliverer who is their exceedingly great reward.
