Standing Up for Yahveh God’s Glory

“…Then the glory of Yahveh appeared in the tent of meeting to all the sons of Israel. Yahveh said to Moses, ‘How long will this people spurn Me? How long will they not believe in Me, despite all the signs I have performed in their midst? I will smite them with pestilence and dispossess them, and I will make you into a nation greater and mightier than they.’” (Numbers 14:10-12)

But, Moses stood up for the Almighty’s glory. He basically said, “Yahveh, Your name has been proclaimed and glorified, it has been substantiated to be the only name of the One true living God, by all that You have done to bring Your sons and daughters out of bondage. Don’t let your glory be defamed by their rebellion allowing others to say, ‘He brought them out but He couldn’t bring them in’” (see Numbers 14:13-16).

Moses intervened on behalf of the Mighty One of Isreal’s glory. He was more interested in God’s glory than he was in Yahveh making a nation out of him. The Almighty in essence said, “They don’t have faith in Me or respect for Me. They do not have any gratitude for what I have done. Let’s get rid of them all and I will take the promise and put it on your heirs.” Moses talked Him out of it because he was interested in the Holy One’s glory, saying, “What will the world say about You? They have heard wonderful, awesome things You’ve done and will do. Now they are going to see that You could not fulfill Your promise to the people. You have to fulfill it for the glory of Your name. Yahveh Your name is at stake.”

We are responsible for upholding the integrity and glory of Yahveh’s name!
