Go Up!
“Yahveh (the LORD) spoke to Moses saying, ‘Send out for yourself men so that they may spy out the land of Canaan, which I am going to give to the sons of Israel; you shall send a man from each of their fathers’ tribes everyone a leader among them’” (Numbers 13:1-2). So, one man from each tribe, twelve men were to be sent forth.
“So Moses sent them from the wilderness … at the command of the LORD …” (Numbers 13:3). “…Go up there into the Negev; then go up into the hill country” (Numbers 13:17). This is the same thing the Almighty is saying to us, “Go up. Come up. Come up higher.” He wants us to see certain things; and in order to see more, we have to go up. The word “AliYAH,” which is a common word among the Jews, is used when the Israelites were returning to the land of Israel. It means to ascend, go up to YAHveh.
When we obey what His instructions are, we are literally going up to see what He has to tell us. Our obedience brings us into His Presence so that He can show us more of Himself, more of ourselves, and more of the enemy’s work. He will give us a strategy in the midst of His glory. He will provide a fearlessness and courageousness that will empower us—and we will be overcomers for Yahshua (Jesus).
He said, “Go up” twice. “See what the land is like, and whether the people who live in it are strong or weak, whether they are few or many. … Make an effort then to get some of the fruit of the land. … So they went up and spied out the land from the wilderness of Zin …” (Numbers 13:18,20-21).
Israel was in a wilderness. The Almighty wanted them to go up so that they could see that He, who had done mighty things on their behalf, was about to do mighty things again and to bring them into the Promised Land. We have been in a wilderness and He wants us to reflect. We have heard His voice to come out of Egypt, and to come out of the world, to come out of the religious system [an empty form of religion that is imbibed with traditions]. He says, “Come up” and yes, you are going to see giants in the land.
Israel saw the giants. You are going to see all kinds of enemies that are against the remnant. But He says, “Show them the fruit. If I can grow fruit this big, then I can cause them to overcome their enemies.” The onslaughts will be great as we go forth into what was promised to those who obey.
